CEDPO responds to EDPB consultation on data breach notification

Nov 4, 2026

CEDPO has published its contribution to the European Data Protection Board’s public consultation on a common template for personal data breach notification, which ran from 10 June to 5 August 2026. The initiative aims to harmonise notification procedures across the EEA through a template designed for implementation in supervisory authorities’ digital tools.

CEDPO welcomes the initiative’s potential to simplify compliance and reduce the operational burden on controllers and DPOs, particularly when handling cross-border incidents. Our contribution calls for proportionate information requirements, consistent implementation and interoperability with other incident-reporting systems. It also stresses that responsibility for notification remains with the controller, supported by the DPO’s advice and expertise.
