Summary:

As the EU AI Act begins to reshape the regulatory landscape, fundamental rights impact assessments (FRIAs) have emerged as a key compliance requirement for high-risk AI systems. Based on their extensive experience of conducting complex data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), it is clear that DPOs/privacy professionals will likely be expected to become the experts in this emerging area of AI risk management. However, for this to happen new skills will be required, and the task is far from straightforward.

This webinar will provide a clear, practical overview of what FRIAs are, when they are required, and how to conduct them effectively. Drawing from CEDPO’s latest Micro-Insight paper, the session will explore how FRIAs differ from traditional DPIAs, the specific rights they aim to safeguard under the EU Charter, and the unique risks AI poses to individuals and society. Designed for data protection, AI governance professionals, and legal experts, the webinar will help participants navigate their obligations under Article 27 of the AI Act and prepare for responsible AI deployment.
